Al and Carol Davis welcomed Davis into the world on May 18, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York. He holds a degree from Chico State University in California. Prior to taking over joint control of the organization, Davis worked in the Raiders’ retail division, where he assisted in the growth of their Raider Image stores.
He also worked in the Raiders’ equipment division, where he created the football-specific muff-style hand warmer in 1986. Cliff Branch, a player for the Raiders was represented by Davis during contract negotiations with the team in 1980.
This led to an agreement that included an annuity and Mark Davis was evicted from his father’s home for developing a strong relationship with the players. Later, when the team relocated to Los Angeles, he lived with Branch.
Mark took up Al’s role as managing general partner after Davis and his mother received the Oakland Raiders as their inheritance. He is the Raiders’ operating chief and in charge of running the team on a daily basis. Mark also attends owner meetings on behalf of the team.
Davis started looking for a location to build a new stadium for the Raiders as the team’s lease with the Oakland Coliseum was coming to an end and the facility had various concerns due to its age.
Although he initially wanted to keep the team in Oakland, he declared in February 2015 that they were working together to pursue a shared stadium in Carson, California, which is located in Los Angeles County, along with the San Diego Chargers and their owner, Dean Spanos.
