When did Brandon Sklenar Make His Professional Debut?
In the 2011 movie Cornered, Sklenar made his professional cinematic debut. He made an appearance in the TV show Dating Rules from My Future Self the following year. After that, he made appearances in the film Chance, Truth Be Told on NBC, Hunky Dory and Bella Donna, Fall into Me on television and Temple, an American-Japanese horror film.
In the 2018 biographical drama film Mapplethorpe which chronicles the life of New York photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, he was then cast as Edward Mapplethorpe. It was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2018 where it won Runner-Up in the category for American Narrative Competition.
Sklenar’s performance in Mapplethorpe garnered favorable reviews from a variety of media outlets including Boy Culture which commended him for having maximum impact in his psychologically charged scenes with Matt Smith.
He made an appearance in Vice, a 2018 biographical drama film starring Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carell and Sam Rockwell.
Then, Sklenar made appearances in The Last Room, Glass Jaw and Amir Naderi’s Magic Lantern. Additionally, in June 2018, Sklenar received a role in the drama independent film Indigo Valley which is based on the same-named short film by director Jaclyn Bethany.
In The Big Ugly, a noir crime thriller that fuses the American western and British gangster genres, Sklenar was cast as the main antagonist opposite Ron Perlman, Malcolm McDowell, Nicholas Braun and Leven Rambin. Sklenar garnered a lot of positive reviews for his performance as Junior Lawford in the movie.
He played the lead role in the indie movie Jonesin’, a criminal comedy about a moonshiner who gets kidnapped after being mistaken for someone else and gets trapped in the city between two warring gangs.
He was chosen to play the lead in the independent film Futra Days which also stars Tania Raymonde and Rosanna Arquette, in the early months of 2020. In the movie, a guy visits the future to investigate what control is all about.
