Formerly known as Carole Murdock and Carole Lewis, Carole Ann Baskin (born June 6, 1961) is the founder and executive director of Big Cat Rescue, a Florida-based no-kill animal refuge. She has brought awareness to the predicament of confined large cats in the eyes of local, national, and international media.
Tiger King, a 2020 Netflix real crime documentary series, would chronicle Baskin’s increasing rivalry with Oklahoma private zoo owner Joe Exotic and bring her to widespread public exposure. Who Is Carole Baskin Husband?
At the launch party for No More Homeless Pets in November 2002, Carole met Howard Baskin. Soon after, he became chairman of Big Cat Rescue’s advisory board. He asked her to marry him in November of 2003, and they tied the knot the following year. In October 2020 it was found that Carole Baskin is bisexual.

Carole Baskin Past Marriages and Relationships
Baskin’s boss at the Tampa department store where she worked, Michael Murdock, took her in when she was 17 years old. On April 7th, 1979, they tied the knot. Baskin has said that she never loved Murdock and only married him to appease her parents, who disapproved of their extramarital affair. Jamie Veronica Murdock was born on July 16, 1980; her pregnancy began in October 1979.
According to Baskin, when Murdock tried to attack her in 1981 when she was 19 years old, she threw a potato at him. She escaped their house in her bare feet and went to 50th Street in Tampa, where she met her second husband, Don Lewis. While they were both legally married, she began having an affair with Lewis.
In 1984, she became one of Lewis’ many lovers and was instrumental in increasing his riches through the purchase and sale of real estate. In 1991, after each had divorced their previous partner, the couple tied the knot.
As of August 1997, Lewis had been reported missing; he was presumed dead in 2002. Baskin and Lewis’s children got into a fight over who should get the bulk of Lewis’s fortune, and Baskin ultimately won. As of 2023, the investigation into Lewis’s disappearance remains ongoing.
Lewis’s family and lawyers sponsored a commercial in September 2020 during airings of Baskin’s Dancing with the Stars episodes in some Florida television markets, including Tampa, pleading for information on Lewis’s disappearance and offering a $100,000 reward.

Where was Don Lewis, Carole Baskin’s Ex-Husband Located and Is He Still Alive?
What happened to Carole Baskin’s husband? It’s plausible, but his disappearance is still a mystery at this point. Baskin stated the DHS letter claiming Don Lewis was found “alive and well” as of 2002 was “produced” by season two of Tiger King during a 2021 interview on ITV’s This Morning. In 2023, he’d reach the ripe old age of 84.
Despite rumors to the contrary, Baskin has learned that her husband, Don Lewis, is safe and sound in Costa Rica. Even though Homeland Security has known where he is at least since then, much ado has been made about the possibility that I had a hand in his disappearance. She told ITV she was “shocked” when she saw the DHS paperwork in season two of the Tiger King series and that she had to rewatch the second season to see how the production dealt with the revelation.
“My tigers eat meat; they don’t eat people,” Baskin (then known as Carole Lewis) responded. My husband’s bones and other remains would be out there. I can’t believe somebody would ever consider that! Since Lewis frequently flew to Costa Rica without a license, she assumed he had crashed in the Gulf of Mexico. He didn’t have a pilot’s license but was constantly in the air.
Baskin made a statement titled “Refuting Netflix Tiger King” in which she discussed her connection with Lewis in response to suspicions started by the Netflix series that she had killed him. Like any couple, my and Don’s had their ups and downs since Don was not easy to live with. However, Baskin said he never threatened the big cat and denied any involvement in his disappearance in a post on Big Cat Rescue. When he vanished, I helped the police in whatever way I could. I told them to look into the Costa Rica reports, and on my own, I hired a private eye.
