Pocoroba played for the Braves for his whole 10-year career. He first joined the team for 67 games in 1975. In 1977, he had his best season. In 113 games, he hit 290 with eight home runs and 44 RBIs.

The next year, he was picked as a substitute for the All-Star Game. In the last inning of the NL’s 7-3 win, he came in and caught partner Phil Niekro for the last out. After having shoulder trouble for a long time, Pocoroba was put on the bench and used as a pinch hitter in 1982.

He played in 56 games for Atlanta and hit. Atlanta started the season with a record 13 straight wins and went on to win the division title for the first time since 1969. In the NL Championship Series, the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Braves in three straight games.
