Erin Napier is an American entertainer, graphic designer and writer. She co-hosts with her husband “Ben Napier” the HGTV program “Home Town” for which she is best known. Fans have been concerned about her health, so we’ll explain what happened to her.
Which Illness Did Affect Erin Napier’s Health?
In her memoir Make Something Good Today published in 2018, Erin discussed the terrifying circumstance as well as her earlier illness. Erin said, “It was a really sad and scary and confusing ten years.”
Erin noted that her health problems began when she was 19 and discussed the situation at the time.
“In the beginning, it would be 24 hours of terrible stomach pain and a low grade fever and then it would disappear. It became two days, then three.”
At her worst, Erin would be bedridden for weeks at a time, unable to move without experiencing pain and unable to determine the source of her suffering.
According to Ben, Erin underwent an urgent exploratory procedure at the recommendation of her OB/GYN which discovered that all of her organs were connected and joined by a tissue that covered everything.
They sent her to a different surgeon after being perplexed by the discovery. A perforated appendix was found to be the source of the highly uncommon condition during a second operation. For years, the organ had continually burst and then healed itself.
Erin said:
“The first time it happened, when I was 19, it just partially ruptured. Not enough to kill me, just enough to make me sick.”
Her other internal organs gradually became covered with scar tissue that finally grew “like a cancer” after the organ had self-healed. Thankfully, it and her appendix were successfully removed, addressing the physical problem if not the emotional wounds.
She addressed her health in an Instagram post that featured two images of her visiting family in the hospital and two-page extracts from the book she and her husband and co-star Ben Napier published years ago. She wrote:
“This time of year, I feel the anniversary of illness so acutely. This time of year, I feel the anniversary of illness so acutely. These hospital photos were taken in 2014 at the end of my 10 year illness from unknowingly a perforated appendix.”

Erin stated that she is relieved that the COVID-19 epidemic allowed her to connect all these dots in recent months. She also thought about why she was posting the article and how she hoped that by being open about her personal health problems, it could help others who might be going through a similar situation.

What did Erin Napier Say About Her Throat Surgery?
Erin Napier has undergone a throat surgery procedure. The 36-year-old HGTV celebrity posted a selfie on Instagram of herself in a hospital bed with her family friend Rodney, who works in the hospital cafeteria.
Napier wrote, “Staying tonight in the hospital after a throat procedure, and feeling so cared for by an old friend.”
The Home Town host explained her family’s relationship to Rodney in the touching message. She explained:
“My daddy started the physical therapy program at our community hospital in 1975, then my brother followed in his footsteps and was a doctor of PT in the same department for 15 years, Rodney has worked at this hospital since I was a little girl coming to visit daddy. He and my brother became buddies, too.”
Every time Napier visited the hospital, she again praised Rodney for his care throughout the years. Over the years, Erin has faced her fair share of health challenges. We hope forher better health.
