He was diagnosed with stomach cancer in the fall of 2021. He shared this sad news on Instagram with a post which is provided below:

Recently a good health update has been provided by Toby Keith. The 61-year-old “Red Solo Cup” singer revealed in an interview that the tumor in his stomach has reduced by a third and his blood tests look okay.

He said:

“I’m feeling pretty good … I’m about another eight weeks from my last scan. So I expect next time I look for that tumor to be even less — and I’ve only got one that’s shown up. Basically, everything is in a real positive trend”

Keith continued by stating that although cancer can be unpredictable, overall he feels more energized and would like to perform again this fall. He said:

“You never know with cancer, so you have to prepare. But my goal is, I feel better; I’ve got more wind.”

Toby continued:

“All I got to do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we’ll go back to work. I’m ready, That’s living.”

Who is in Toby Keith’s Family?

Carolyn Joan and Hubert K. Covel, Jr. welcomed Keith into the world in Clinton, Oklahoma. He has both a brother and a sister. When Keith was in grade school, the family spent a short while in Fort Smith, Arkansas, but when he was still a little child, they relocated to Moore, Oklahoma.

After completing his high school education at Moore, Keith worked as an oil field derrick hand. He advanced through the ranks and is now an operations manager. At the age of 20, Keith founded the Easy Money Band with his pals Scott Webb, Keith Cory, David “Yogi” Vowell, Danny Smith and a few others.

The band performed in neighborhood pubs while Keith continued to work in the oil business. When he was called to work in the oil field, he occasionally had to abandon concerts in the middle of them.

Oklahoma’s oil business started to rapidly deteriorate in 1982 and Keith quickly found himself out of a job. He resumed his football preparation and played defensive end for the Oklahoma City Drillers, a semi-pro team, while still touring with his band.

He then shifted his attention back to the music. Despite the doubts of his family and friends, Easy Money began performing on the honky-tonk circuit in Oklahoma and Texas in 1984. Other band members included Mike Barnes, T.A. Brauer and David Saylors.
