His father was a college basketball player, and his mother was a college tennis star. Tyler has two older sisters, both of whom played lacrosse in college.
Tyler Buchner went to The Bishop’s School and graduated in 2021. After that, he went to the University of Alabama. He is studying sports management right now.

Tyler Buchner is a quarterback for the Southeastern Conference (SEC) team Alabama Crimson Tide. He used to play for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) team Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Buchner was born and grew up in the Illinois city of Evanston. He went to The Bishop’s School in La Jolla, California, for his first three years. For his senior year, he moved to Helix High School in La Mesa, California. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he didn’t play football his final year in 2020.
As a junior in 2019, Buchner threw for 4,474 yards and scored 53 touchdowns. He also ran for 1,610 yards and scored 28 scores on the ground. He chose Notre Dame over offers from Alabama, TCU, Georgia, USC, and Michigan, among others, to play college football there.

Buchner’s first year at Notre Dame, in 2021, was spent as Jack Coan’s backup. He played in 10 games and completed 21 of 35 passes for 298 yards, 3 scores, and 3 picks. He also ran for 336 yards and 3 scores on the ground. Buchner and Drew Pyne both tried to be the starting quarterback for the team in 2022.
When Notre Dame lost to Marshall on September 10, 2022, he hurt his shoulder. He missed the rest of the 2022 regular season because of this. In the 2022 Gator Bowl, Notre Dame beat South Carolina, and he was back on the field.
