Another confrontation between the two GOP figures as they prepare for what may be a 2024 presidential primary match-up, former President Trump on Wednesday took a jab at Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) after the Florida governor criticized him in an interview with Fox Nation’s Piers Morgan.
DeSantis changed his previously oblique attitude in an interview scheduled to run on Fox Nation’s “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Thursday and published in part by The New York Post, taking barbs at Trump’s character and leadership.
After DeSantis attacked him on Truth Social, Trump, who is under indictment in New York over a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, fired back.
For example, “while I am fighting against Radical Left Lunatics, Persecutors, and unfair Prosecutors who want to destroy us all, Ron DeSanctimonious is not working for the people of Florida as he should be, he is too busy chatting with a Ratings Challenged TV Host from England, desperately trying to rescue his failing Campaign—But it’s my fault, I put him there!”
The president’s comments highlight the effort by his legal team to portray DeSantis as disloyal to Trump in the face of the New York prosecutors. DeSantis has attacked both Trump’s relationship with Daniels and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
While DeSantis hasn’t officially launched a bid, he has intimated that he is preparing for a future bid and may make a decision once the Florida legislative session concludes in May, shortly after Trump announced his 2024 campaign following the November midterms.
DeSantis is seen as a potential frontrunner in the 2024 election when the outgoing president seeks reelection for a second term. Make America Great Again Inc., a super PAC associated with Trump, has alleged that DeSantis’ interview with Morgan was DeSantis “lashing out against President Trump because his poll numbers keep falling.” After finding themselves tied in February, the group pointed to a Monmouth University survey from this month showing Trump with a 14-point lead over DeSantis.
Former President Trump has admitted that he “probably” regrets endorsing Republican candidate for Florida governor Ron DeSantis in 2018. When asked by Morgan about his connection with his running mate, DeSantis said, “The major thing that’s happened that’s changed his tune was my re-election victory.”

Trump’s “Ron DeSanctimonious” nickname for the Florida governor is notable because he came up with it before the midterms and has allegedly practiced using it as part of his campaign preparation. In an interview with Morgan, DeSantis admitted that he “kinda” like the moniker.
I can’t remember the correct spelling of “sanctimonious. DeSantis said of his new moniker, “I don’t really know what it means, but I sorta like it, it’s long, it’s got a lot of vowels. To know more latest news you can join us on our Twitter account.
