How did Kevin James Lose His Weight?
Kevin James plays a mixed martial arts (MMA) coach in the movie “Here Comes the Boom.” In order to lose almost 80 pounds in preparation for the part, James underwent rigorous training with the help of his MMA coach, Ryan Parsons.
Kevin James used a low-carb diet and daily exercise routine to lose weight. For as long as it had in the past, it had been effective for him, but his routine was stricter for the “Here Comes the Boom” role. James engaged in boxing, kicking, push-ups, sit-ups and other cardio exercises during his training.
James asked to be trained and treated as if he were going to a real fight while getting ready for the movie, according to Parsons, who at the time also worked as a personal trainer. Clearly, the aforementioned exercise plus Kevin James’ rigorous gym training had a big impact on his weight loss.

What did Kevin James’ Coach Say About Him?
When talking about James’ gym and desire to work out, Parsons noted that normally individuals come up with excuses for why they can’t work out, such as not living close to a cutting-edge gym.
James would race up and down hotel stairs, run for an hour through the town or rent a bike and ride hard for an hour to get around this excuse when he wasn’t close to a gym. Parsons said:
“This is the secret to anyone’s successful workout. It’s too simple to quit if you don’t know why you’re doing something and have a specific objective in sight.”
