Joe Kelly, who is from California was born in Anaheim. His parents are Andrea Valencia and Joe Kelly Sr. His mom is Mexican. When Joe was in junior school, his mom convinced him to take salsa dance classes together. He agreed and in the 2013 MLB season, people saw him dancing salsa in the outfield.
He learned this talent from his mom. His father was a former NFL player who attended Vanderbilt University for his undergraduate studies and played professionally for the San Diego Chargers at the time.

He went to Corona High School in California. After high school, he went to the University of California, Riverside and played baseball there. In high school, he played in the outfield, but in college, he became a pitcher and was really good at closing games.
In his first year at college, he was named the best pitcher in his conference. During the summer of 2008, he played baseball for a team. In 2009, he didn’t do as well, with a 5.65 earned run average and only one win.
But he still did some great things in college, like setting a record for saves and being an All-American. His overall stats in college were a 4.65 ERA and 8 wins out of 19 games he played. He later played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox.
He was a pitcher and sometimes started games and other times came in as a relief pitcher. The Cardinals picked him in the third round of the 2009 MLB draft. Apart from his baseball skills, he’s also known for being funny.
He did things like dancing in the outfield during practice, dressing up in funny costumes for interviews having a stare-off with another player and even wearing a special jacket to the White House.
In 2020, he became famous online for making fun of another player named Carlos Correa who complained about almost getting hit by a pitch.
