After only two years of marriage, rapper Jeezy and TV host Jeannie Mai Jenkins have filed for divorce. They started dating in 2018, got married in 2021, and now they have a year-old kid.
On September 15, 2023, Jeezy (full name: Jay Wayne Jenkins) filed for divorce in Georgia’s Fulton County Superior Court. The lawsuit claims that the pair is “currently living in a bona fide state of separation” and that their marriage is “irretrievably broken” with “no hope for reconciliation.”
Jeezy wants shared custody of their daughter Monaco, which includes legal and physical custody. The couple has a prenuptial agreement that should make the divorce process easier.

Jenkins and Jeezy (born Jay Jenkins) wed in Atlanta in March of 2021, and their daughter Monaco was born in January of 2022. Jenkins surprised her husband with a vacation to Vietnam for their two-year wedding anniversary in March, calling it a “long-awaited adventure.”
“When Jeezy and I met, we bonded over the similarities and differences of our cultures,” she said at the time. Having a daughter has given new significance to our exploration of Vietnam as a multiethnic family. Jeezy had intended to propose in April 2020 during a trip to Hoi An, Vietnam, but COVID canceled the trip, forcing him to find another location.
Here is a post of Jeezy with her daughter that Jenkins post on her Instagram account:
“When Jeezy asked me to marry him, he made our apartment appear like Hoi An. Jenkins remarked that their first visit to Hoi An, Vietnam, during their anniversary trip “brought full circle the memories of our engagement.”
The two began dating in secret in November of 2018 after meeting on the set of Jenkins’ daytime talk show, The Real. They announced their relationship to the world in August of this year.
Jenkins had told in November:
“We both went through enough in our life to connect on the understanding that love should feel safe, honest, and pure.”
There was an instant magnetic pull. Our shared commitment to doing good for others is what draws us together. We’ll figure out how to work together because we both appreciate the satisfaction of being useful.
