Brandon Hunter was a well-known American professional basketball player. The Boston Celtics selected him with the 56th overall choice in the 2003 NBA Draft after his collegiate career at Ohio University, where he led the NCAA in rebounding in 2002–03.
On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, he passed away at the age of 42. Coach Jeff Boals of Ohio’s men’s basketball team tweeted to confirm the news of his passing:

What is Brandon Hunter’s Cause of Death?
NBA player Brandon Hunter, who had brief runs with the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic passed tragically after collapsing following a hot yoga session in Orlando.
Hunter, a native of Cincinnati excelled in college at Ohio University before entering the NBA and having a successful lengthy career as a journeyman in European basketball.
The university said, “We are saddened to hear about the loss of Ohio basketball legend Brandon Hunter, “Our thoughts are with Brandon’s family at this time.”

His mother-in-law stated that the family was shocked by his passing out after a heated yoga session. Carolyn Cliett said:
“It was hot yoga and he did it regularly, He was in good shape as far as we know. We’re just shocked.”
But the real cause of death has not been disclosed officially yet. The Orlando Magic released a statement mourning Hunter’s passing, “We are terribly saddened to learn of the loss of our former teammate, Brandon Hunter.”

In his career as a Bobcat, Hunter was named to the first team of the MAC three times and led all players in rebounds in the NCAA in 2003. He had 1,103 rebounds in his four years at Athens making him the school’s all-time leader in this category.
Bill O’Shea, a former coach at Ohio University described Hunter as the best player I ever had the good fortune of coaching and noted his success as a player agent after his basketball career.
OShea posted on Facebook, “It is with profound sadness and shock I share the news of the passing of Brandon Hunter today in Orlando at the age of 42.”
