Robin Roberts and Amber Laign first met in 2005 when their friends arranged for them to go on a blind date. Up until 2013, they maintained their relationship a secret. But finally, the couple got married.
What was the Wedding Date for Robin Roberts and Amber Laign?
This year, Roberts officially announced that she and Laign planned to wed in 2023. Roberts said:
“I’m hesitating because I haven’t said it out loud yet . . . I’m saying ‘yes’ to marriage, We’re getting married this year. It was something we had talked about but we had put it off, she became ill but . . . it is saying yes to that, and that next chapter.”
Since then, Roberts’ morning show family and social media users have joined the pair in celebrating their journey to marriage. Even the date they got their marriage license was disclosed to followers in an Instagram video which is provided below.
The Good Morning America host and the massage therapist got married on Friday, September 8, 2023 the couple said on the Instagram account they run for their dog, Lil Man Lukas. They added a caption “My mommies are MARRIED!!!! Married?……yes….married!!!” to a picture of the dog looking smart in a bow tie.
The Farmington couple exchanged vows in front of close relatives and friends on their lawn. After the ceremony, guests headed to Farmington Gardens for the reception. Roberts wrote on Instagram, “An intimate, magical wedding ceremony in our backyard followed by a joyous reception…ohhhh the dancing!!”
The couple has since experienced both highs and numerous lows together. Roberts received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2007 and entered remission. Five years later, she was found to have myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood and bone marrow condition that required a bone marrow transplant to survive.
Roberts relied on Laign for assistance along the way to get over the health obstacles. Then, in December 2021, Roberts paid it forward by supporting Laign after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In April 2022, Roberts informed Ellen DeGeneres that she had beaten breast cancer.
Laign finished the radiation treatment in July 2022 and Roberts posted a video of the happy medical accomplishment on Instagram.
