According to a press release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Kenjuan McDaniel was detained on August 29 on suspicion of open murder with a deadly weapon. According to court documents, his bail was set at $1 million with electronic monitoring.
According to a redacted arrest warrant, McDaniel had been identified as a person of interest in the death of Randall Wallace on September 18, 2021, in part because of his association with a car that resembled the one used in the homicide.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department shared a tweet after his arrest which is provided below:

The warrant stated that a detective discovered a music video McDaniel had put on YouTube in July and examined the lyrics and content. The warrant said:
“Detectives noted the music video bore a sufficient level of similarity to the details of the murder. This includes the fact, that Kenjuan confessed to the murder in his lyrics. … Details provided by Kenjuan in his music video were not released to the public and would not be common knowledge.”
The warrant mentions a song’s line, “Parked the car, double back on feet, the smartest way to slide, drove in, double lock yo man, make sure you get yo bod” in which it is stated that the line contains information about the murder that was not made public.
In addition, it claims that McDaniel acted out portions of the murder while rapping in the video that are consistent with evidence at the scene. It added:
“The facts gathered during the investigation were obtained separately from the music video. The music video further validated the results of the investigation.”
