Tory Lanez, born Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson on July 27, 1992, is a Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter. The August 2013 release of his mixtape Conflicts of My Soul: The 416 Story is widely credited with launching his career. Tory Lanez joined Mad Love Records, an offshoot of Interscope Records founded by musical producer Benny Blanco, in 2015.

It has gone viral that Canadian rapper Tory Lanez is getting married during his 10-year prison term. Reporter Meghann Cuniff (@meghanncuniff) tweeted on September 1, 2023, that court documents pertaining to the musician’s bail indicated that he had married his fiancée, Raina Chassange.

Since his conviction on murder charges on December 23, 2022, rapper Lanez—real name Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson—has been incarcerated. In 2020, after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s house, Tory, Megan, and her then-friend Kelsey Harris got into an argument on the side of the road.

At his sentencing, Lanez indicated that he still cares about Megan and that he wishes he could take back what he said to her in their argument in 2020. The judge considered Lanez’s exemplary behaviour and charitable work before handing down his punishment, but she rejected the idea that “sometimes good people do bad things” while making her decision.
