Enrique Tarrio was reared as a Catholic in Little Havana, a Miami, Florida neighbourhood, where he was born in 1984 or 1985. Enrique, at 20 years old was found guilty of theft in 2004. He received a sentence of three years of probation, community service and reparations.
Tarrio moved to a tiny hamlet in North Florida to manage a chicken farm after 2004. Later, he went back to Miami. He also started a company that installs security systems and another that offers GPS tracking for businesses. Tarrio was charged in 2012 for his involvement in a plan to resale and rebrand stolen diabetic test strips.
Enrique collaborated with investigators after being charged with aiding them in the prosecution of over a dozen additional people.
In a 2014 federal court proceeding, Tarrio’s attorney claimed that Tarrio had been a prolific cooperator who had helped the government in the investigation and prosecution of more than twelve people in cases involving anabolic steroids, gambling and human smuggling.
The court transcript and the former federal prosecutor in the case against Tarrio both contradicted his denials that he worked undercover or assisted with investigations.
Tarrio’s status as an informant came to light for the first time in January 2021 when Reuters got the relevant court documents and spoke with the case’s investigators and attorneys.
Recently, Enrique Tarrio, a former leader of the Proud Boys was given a 22-year prison term on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 for his involvement in the incident at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
