In 2013, when she was 17 years old, Hadid was told she had Lyme disease. She has said that both physically and mentally, the disease has had a big effect on her life. She has also talked about how hard it is for her to be a young woman with a long-term sickness.
Hadid’s willingness to talk about her illness in public has helped bring more attention to Lyme disease. She is an inspiration to many people who are struggling with the disease, and she is trying to get rid of the stigma that comes with having a chronic illness.

In an Instagram post, supermodel Bella Hadid talked about the pain she has been through because of Lyme disease, which she got when she was 17 years old in 2013. Bella gave a report on her health and said:
“Living in this condition, which was getting worse over time, and working while trying to make myself, my family, and the people who support me proud had hurt me in ways I can’t really explain.
It was probably the most confusing thing in the world to be so sad and sick when I had so many gifts, opportunities, and people who loved me. I want you all to know two things: I’m fine, so don’t worry about me, and I wouldn’t change anything for the world. If I had to go through all of this again to get to where I am now, finally healthy and with all of you, I would do it all over again. It helped me become who I am now.”
The supermodel thanked her doctors, nurses, and managers for “protecting me.” Hadid said, “I’ll be back when I’m ready. I really miss you all. I really love you all.” Last week, Hadid’s sister Gigi wrote on her Instagram Story that Bella had “just finished a long and intense treatment for Lyme disease,” and that she was “so proud of her and excited for her comeback, whenever she feels ready.”
In 2012, Lyme disease was found in Bella, her younger brother Anwar Hadid, and their mother, Yolanda. Yolanda talked about how hard it was for her to deal with the illness when she was on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Bella has been open about working through her symptoms, like when she said one of her teeth caused an infection in her jaw in April. After giving an update on her health, Hadid shared photos of herself with her “angel” dog and wrote, “Thank you for never leaving my side for even a second.”
