Jordan Allison Nichols, who was just 20 years old, sadly passed away on August 27th, 2023, at Toledo Hospital due to complications after having her appendix removed.
She leaves behind her parents, Eric and Marianne Nichols, her brothers, Kale and Braden, a large extended family, and her dear friends.
Remembering Jordan’s Journey
Jordan was born on April 29th, 2003, in Columbus, Ohio, but she called Bowling Green her home for 14 years. She attended St. Aloysius for elementary and junior high school and then Notre Dame Academy for high school. For the past two years, she had been studying at BGSU to become an intervention specialist.
Jordan was a gifted and diligent student who consistently made the dean’s list. Her exceptional kindness and patience allowed her to see potential in everyone, and she was eager to help those who might have otherwise been left behind.
Creativity flowed through Jordan, and she had a knack for the arts. She began playing the piano at a young age and, although she typically played classical pieces during her concerts, her heart belonged to ragtime music. Jordan enjoyed sketching, knitting, and painting small rocks and gnomes for her mother’s garden.
She was a talented creative writer with a particular love for poetry, often composing verses just for herself. Her work ranged from beautiful and intelligent to nuanced and even chaotic at times, reflecting her vibrant personality.

Jordan’s Love for Sports
Jordan was also quite the athlete, participating in soccer for most of her life and golf during high school. While she appreciated sports, her real treasure was the friendships she formed on these teams. Her close-knit group of friends admired her unique perspective and exceptional mind. They enjoyed thrift shopping, watching cheesy movies, and sharing laughter together.
She had a deep appreciation for the old world’s character and charm and had the opportunity to visit Europe on several occasions. Whether she was exploring Paris with her nana, southern Europe with friends, or the Icelandic landscapes with her dad, she found solace in nature.
The stillness of the Appalachian Mountains and the warmth of her grandparents’ lake house in Tennessee were among her favorite places.
Love for Animals and Family
Jordan was a loving and protective caregiver to her pets, including Juan Pablo, the chihuahua who had passed away earlier this year, and her new companion, Milo, a Pitbull mix rescued by her and her roommates.
Her love extended to her little brother, whom she would sneak away from home for junk food adventures. Her patience and understanding helped her discover her potential as a teacher.
Jordan was not one to turn a blind eye to injustice or sorrow in the world. She stood up for those who suffered and took action to make the world a better place. Her contributions included volunteering in the community, learning American Sign Language to connect with those often ignored, and working with children who were often overlooked by others.
Jordan possessed a unique blend of sentimentality, bravery, and toughness. Her infectious laughter brightened the lives of those around her. She set her own goals and standards and always aimed to be the person she wanted to be. Despite facing numerous challenges and coping with generalized anxiety disorder, she consistently overcame obstacles and pursued happiness.
She was an unwavering source of support for her brothers in all their endeavors. Jordan shared an incredibly close bond with her mother, speaking to her daily. She brought out the best in her father, making him a better person through their relationship.
