Trevor Etienne Signs NIL Deal with Gataverse
Etienne had the fourth most yards rushing by a true rookie tailback in the history of the school. Now in his second year, he and Montrell Johnson Jr. are expected to be one of the best running back teams in the country.
Etienne has signed a NIL deal with the OpenLocker fan group Gataverse before the first game of the season on Thursday, September 1, 2023 night at Utah. The company has its own NFT platform and uses blockchain technology to make authentic digital collectables for sports.
Gataverse gave the sophomore his own limited edition collectable, which also serves as proof that he is a part of the community. The signed card costs $77 and lets you meet Travis Etienne’s younger brother. Fans who buy the card will have a chance to meet Etienne and will also get a 20% discount at Bleu Bird Wings.
For every Florida win in which he scores two touchdowns, cardholders can get seven wings, fries and a drink at a Gainesville restaurant. The seven is a reference to the number on the running back’s jersey.
Gataverse community manager Matt Ulino said in a statement:
“The Trevor Etienne Collection represents the next level of NIL which is designed to drive fan engagement with real-world utility tied to athlete performance, We’ve already seen how excited Gator fans are to get something tangible and meet their favorite athlete at an event. Local merchants like Bleu Bird will bring the Gataverse community together by creating opportunities for fans to earn rewards and experiences.”
