Ariana Grande’s Surprising Departure from Scooter Braun

Despite rumors to the contrary, a source close to Ariana Grande tells Variety that she has broken up with Scooter Braun and HYBE.

Scooter’s crew is putting a positive spin on things. Ariana has decided to leave Scooter as well as HYBE. The source claimed in a statement, “There is absolutely no truth to her staying,” adding that the singer had unfollowed Braun on social media earlier in the week.

According to the same source, “they get along fine, but she feels she has outgrown him and is ready for new challenges.” There are now contract negotiations with Braun. Nonetheless, she has decided to do this voluntarily. We need a change of pace. Billboard initially reported the news, but several close to Braun have since denied it.

Multiple sources claim that Justin Bieber and other artists are currently in the process of discussing their departures from Scooter Braun’s label.

According to sources close to Braun last week, neither Bieber nor Grande is leaving the company; rather, Braun is continuing to step back from day-to-day management to focus on his role as CEO of HYBE America, the South Korean entertainment giant behind K-pop titans BTS, to whom he sold Ithaca Holdings, the parent company for his SB Projects management business, for a whopping $1.05 billion in 2021.

According to the sources, Grande and Bieber were still in negotiations with Braun, but her remark today appears to have put an end to any possibility of a future collaboration between the two parties.

Grande spoke with at least one management company before electing to form her own team, with her mother Joan playing a pivotal role. According to the same source, she is considering a model similar to that of Taylor Swift and other prominent artists, in which management workers are paid a healthy annual wage rather than by commission.

An insider added that she has been approached by several different managers, but that she is now contemplating her options before making any decisions. The singer has been hard at work on her next big thing, the lead part in Universal’s film adaptation of the smash Broadway musical “Wicked,” which won’t be released to the public until November of 2024.

The most peculiar thing about Grande and Bieber is that neither of them has released a major project under their own names in several years. Grande has dropped singles with the Weeknd and others, but she has not released any music under her own name since the release of “Positions” in the fall of 2020.

Bieber has dropped a few singles, but his last full album was “Justice” in the early years of 2021. Both musicians are in their prime at the age of 30 and 29, respectively: Just to pick two, at age 30, Madonna released “Like a Prayer” and Justin Timberlake was at the height of his commercial success in both music and movies.

They had both earned breaks, but two years is a long time for such prominent musicians to go without releasing new music. However, to be fair, Grande recorded six albums in seven years and has been deeply involved in making “Wicked” for the past year; Bieber was on tour and ill; they had both earned pauses.
