American football coach Richard Stubler worked largely in the Canadian Football League. He most recently served as the Toronto Argonauts’ assistant coach. He was the head coach of the Argonauts previously and has won the Grey Cup five times, all while serving as the defensive coordinator.

When did Rich Stubler Die?
A well-known football player named Rich Stubler passed away on Sunday, August 27 at the age of 74. His death’s precise cause has not yet been made public. Stubler was serving as the defensive coordinator for Florida-based Clearwater Academy International during his second season when he passed away.

The Argos are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Head Coach Rich Stubler. An integral part of our 2004 Grey Cup, Stubler coached four separate times in Toronto and won 5 Grey Cups coaching over 30 years in the CFL.

Jesse Chinchar, the Clearwater head coach, said that Stubler was not only a successful coach but also a terrific person. Chinchar highlighted Stubler’s capacity to make people feel important while praising his kind and sensitive character.
Stubler continued to pursue what he loved, coaching and his enthusiasm for it never wavered. Stubler was a key player in helping Clearwater win their second straight state championship the prior year.
The squad has committed the remaining games of the ’23 season to Stubler in remembrance of him, hoping to carry on his legacy. Stubler worked as a head coach for six different Canadian Football League (CFL) teams during his tenure.
