What Happened In Shibuya Arc? Exploring the Impactful Saga of the Arc

What Happened In Shibuya Arc

Jujutsu Kaisen is, without a doubt, a top-tier modern anime. Its achievement portends a shift away from the hegemony of The Big 3. The pacing, action scenes, story arcs, and character development in JJK have all been superb. When most shonen hits centre on the protagonist, Jujutsu Kaisen centres on everyone.

Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara’s anticipation of their promotion to Special Grade Sorcerers was a satisfying conclusion to JJK Season 1. The audience, however, was completely taken away by Season 2’s storytelling, which did a complete 180 from where Season 1 left off.

In Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, we reminisced with Saturo Gojo about his carefree days as a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High. The backstory of Gojo was necessary for the upcoming adaptation of the iconic Shibuya Incident Arc in the second cour of Season 2.

With only five episodes, JJK wraps off the previous arc and sets the stage for the major tale, which will debut on August 31, 2023. The Shibuya Incident Arc is a major part of the manga, so viewers will be interested to see how the anime adapts this subject.

What Happened In Shibuya Arc?

If they saw Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, then they know what “Shibuya” is. The details could have been nothing more than incidental discussion for those unfamiliar with the manga. But the horrific event is what drives this extraordinary tale by Gege Akutami. When Suguru Geto, Mahito, and the other curses plotted their attack on Saturo Gojo, that was the first time the location was mentioned.

Here, Geto disclosed that sealing the world’s strongest sorcerer, scheduled for October 31st in Shibuya, was the only option. The crowd had no idea why they were being shown this on this date at this location.

The 58 chapters dedicated to the Shibuya Incident arc make it the longest story arc in the manga. It all begins with Season 1’s events, when Gojo starts to suspect that there is a mole in the school. Kokichi Muta or Mechamaru would eventually tell the jujutsu wizards about his treason.

In exchange for knowledge, he made a Binding Vow with Mahito to have his body healed using Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration technique. Because of these doubts, Gojo sent Utahime and the Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara trio to Kokichi to find out the truth and face him. But when they get to the room they think Kokichi is being held in, the group discovers that it’s empty.

A battle breaks out between Kokichi, Pseudo-Geto, and Mahito as it is revealed that he has been meeting with them elsewhere. To combat Mahito, Kokichi activates Ultimate Mechamaru Mode: Absolute. Kokichi proves that he was a formidable sorcerer despite having placed his devotion and confidence in the wrong people by revealing his hidden skills during a protracted combat between the two.

Geto starts his plan by enclosing Shibuya with a massive screen, keeping the civilians inside and causing widespread fear. After sending in Takuma, Nanami, and Megumi to examine the ruckus, the citizens unexpectedly begin to demand that Satoru Gojo be dispatched instead.

The Deaths of Nanami and Nobara in the Shibuya arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 have Horrified Viewers

The trailer for the Shibuya Incident arc of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 gives viewers their first look at Kento Nanami and Nobara Kugisaki, and they are understandably terrified by what they see. Readers of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga know that these two will meet a tragic end during the Shibuya Incident arc.

Nobara’s sad death at the hands of the Special Grade cursed ghost Mahito is the focus of this arc. When he uses Idle Transfiguration on Nobara, part of her face explodes from the force of the blow. Because Itadori has yet to master Sukuna’s abilities, he is unable to use the Reverse Curse Energy to save her.

In this arc, Yuji Itadori’s teacher, Nanami, was killed by Mahito. During the attack on Shibuya, Nanami battled heroically against his attackers, but Mahito ultimately slew him. In front of Yuji, the cursed spirit distorted Nanami’s body and ripped out his heart.

Nobara and Nanami’s deaths deeply affected many people in the fandom. Nanami’s many devoted followers were grieved by his final thoughts—that he should have travelled to Malaysia to reflect on his late comrade Yu Haibara.

Throughout the series, fans also grew fond of Nobara, a carefree young woman. She was a strong ally in battle since she was devoted to her friends and never gave up. Many were angry at Gege Akutami for his decisions that led to Nobara’s premature death. You can join us on our Twitter account to know more details about your favourite anime.
