Born on December 4, 2003, Liam Michael Gilbert Mildenstein maintained his serene demeanour until his untimely demise on August 1, 2023. Liam was born in Berkeley, California to Coast Guard parents, and he spent his childhood moving throughout the country to places like Staten Island, New York; Houston, Texas; Mobile, Alabama; Fort Dix, New Jersey; and Homestead, Florida.

Everywhere he went, he met new acquaintances and had an impact on those around him. Liam lived for the beat and the music. He started dancing when he learned to walk and rarely left the house without his headphones. He was a huge fan of drum sets and would play along to music of all kinds. Everything from Twenty-One Pilots and instrumental Celtic to TV/movie soundtracks and hymns was fair game for his musical tastes.

We are devastated to share the news of Liam Mildenstein’s passing at the young age of 19. He was a fantastic and gifted young man, and his departure from this world is a great loss. His journey of devotion, kindness, and unyielding faith changed all those who knew Liam. His passing has created an impossible hole, but his memory and influence will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Shortly after opening his long-awaited mission call for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Liam Mildenstein died on August 2, 2023, a tragic and unexpected turn in an otherwise promising life. Liam was just 19 years old when his path was cut tragically short, but he was full of passion, faith, and a great desire to serve as a missionary.

Originally from Miami, Liam spent his holiday with his loved ones in Provo, Utah. As Liam read aloud “Tokyo, Japan” from his mission call, the room buzzed with anticipation and optimism. He had been looking forward to this for a while, and his excitement was evident.

But the happy event ended on a terrible note. Liam’s heart gave out as he stated his mission assignment and dropped to the floor. Liam’s heartbeat could not be renewed, despite the best efforts of the on-site medical staff. Within an hour of opening his mission call, he tragically passed away, leaving behind shocked and grieving loved ones and a community.

Liam’s passing and the circumstances surrounding it have saddened his loved ones. On GoFundMe, Liam’s mother revealed her anguish at dealing with such a tragic loss while living so far away from her family.
