William Perry Jr. popularly known as DJ Casper (also known as Mr. C the Slide Man) was an American disc jockey, hype man and songwriter. He was nicknamed “Casper” since he was born and reared in Chicago and frequently appeared on stage dressed entirely in white.

When did DJ Casper Die?

Dj Casper passed away at the age of 58 on Monday, August 7, 2023, in the evening. 

DJ’s wife said in a statement, “Casper was a fun-loving, giving person, He was a genuine, family-oriented man.”

The “Cha Cha Slide” line dance made DJ Casper a household name. The musician initially wrote the song as a form of physical activity. People are sharing their tributes to the star on social media. One fan said, “RIP Dj Casper.”

Another fan said, “RIP to DJ Casper, the creator of The CHA CHA SLIDE.”

One Twitter user said, “RIP DJ Casper! You have changed Black functions for 20+ years legacy will never be forgotten.”

What is the Reason Behind DJ Casper’s Death?

Casper suffered a cancer diagnosis in 2016 and in what would be his final TV appearance this past May, he opened up about his health issues. He told:

“They diagnosed me in 2016 with two kinds of cancer, which is renal and neuroendocrine which is kidney and liver, They went in to try to do surgery and they found out the kidney was connected to the main artery, so they decided not to do it and just treat it.”

During the discussion, he also offered some advice to others who were experiencing health issues. Casper continued:

“Anybody that’s going through cancer, know that you have cancer and cancer does not have you, So, keep on doing the ‘Cha Cha Slide.”
