Willie Geist started his career as an editor and producer for CNN Sports Illustrated. He then joined CNN Sports as a field producer and reporter, covering big sports events like the Super Bowl, the NCAA Final Four, and The Masters. Geist quickly replaced Don Imus as a co-host on MSNBC’s morning show after Imus was fired.

In September 2007, Geist joined Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski as a regular co-host on the show Morning Joe. In July 2009, he also started his own show called Way Too Early with Willie Geist, which came on before Morning Joe. In 2010, Geist also stepped in for Today Show host and newsreader Matt Lauer.
