The Righteous Gemstones season 4 news has already started to roll in after the third season’s finale in July 2023, as the Danny McBride and John Goodman-led comedy is proving to be a hit for HBO. The Gemstone family are powerful televangelists on HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones, but they’re all terribly hypocritical sinners in their own ways.
Eli Gemstone (John Goodman) retired at the end of season 2, his three children assumed leadership roles in the church, and Baby Billy Freeman (Walton Goggins) made peace with the family of his late sister. However, like with the past two seasons, things were certain to go off the rails at some point, and the conclusion of season three will likely set the stage for season four of The Righteous Gemstones.
Is Righteous Gemstone returning for a Fourth Season?
HBO has picked up “The Righteous Gemstones” for a fourth season. Season 3 will conclude on July 30 on HBO and Max, and the renewal news has been released in advance of that. Across conventional and streaming platforms, 4.9 million people have watched an episode of the third season thus far, as reported by HBO.
The Gemstone family is a televised preaching family who become the focus of this comedic series. The official tagline reads as follows: “When the spoiled Gemstone children get their wish to take control of the Church, they discover leadership is harder than they imagined, and that the price of their extravagant lifestyle is steep.”

Who Will Be a Part of Season 4 of The Righteous Gemstones?

The interesting conjecture comes when thinking about which recurrent characters could be back: a big chunk of Season 3 was dedicated to the rupture being healed between the Gemstone and Montgomery families. If Steve Zahn, Kirsten Johnson, Lukas Haas, and Robert Oberst from Montgomery could make an appearance, that would be great.
What Will Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Be About?
Since each season of The Righteous Gemstones often has a self-contained story arc, it can be difficult to speculate on the show’s overall plot for Season 4. However, there were hints of potential storylines in the Season 3 finale: The relationship between Kelvin and Keefe is now public knowledge.
Gideon has informed Eli of his intention to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the ministry. Now that the split between the Montgomery and Gemstone families appears to have been repaired, and the Gemstone siblings are working together better than ever before, what comes next? And how will the ratings be for Baby Billy’s Bible Bonkers? Season 4 of The Righteous Gemstones could feature any of these potential developments.
