On Saturday, New York Knicks player Jalen Brunson married his longtime fiancée, Ali Marks, in a spectacular ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton in Chicago. Marks tells that they wanted the party to be “celebratory and joyful,” with lighting, lasers, a great DJ, nice food, and good beverages.
They started the reception off with a bang by having cooks hand-roll sushi (Brunson’s favorite) and serving little lobster rolls, baby lamb chops, and spring rolls during the cocktail hour. Guests might choose from prime beef tenderloin at the steakhouse station or herb-crusted fish, grilled veggies, and homemade gnocchi at the Tuscan station.
Planner Carrie Zack told the couple opted for a more “night out at one of their favorite spots instead of a traditional wedding celebration.” Readings were given by Brunson’s cousin Lawanda and Marks’ aunt Karen, while the couple’s dog Kona served as a flower girl.
Marks wore a custom off-white Eva Lendel “Lika” dress for the wedding itself, but she broke out her prom dress for a surprise performance later that night. The physical therapist gushes about the dress, saying, “I loved the simple elegance and timeless look.” She paired it with white Christian Louboutin pumps and her engagement ring from MaxiMira.
They were high school sweethearts at Adlai E. Stevenson in Lincolnshire, Illinois, but they ultimately attended different universities for their undergraduate studies; he at Villanova and her at the University of Illinois. In September of last year, Brunson proposed to his girlfriend on the basketball court at their high school.

Brunson wore Christian Louboutin as well, matching his black handmade tux by Tom Marchitelli of Gentleman’s Playbook with a pair of velvet loafers. In fact, per the couple’s strict dress code, everyone was donning all black.

Marks tells that she hired Kehoe Designs to make her vision a reality. “We chose to have an all-black dress code and really amp up the romance and drama with candles everywhere, white flowers for the ceremony —orchids, roses, carnations, hydrangea, ranunculus—deep-hued flowers for the reception,” she says.
“Nonstop dancing,” the bride assures is also crucial. The music was provided by Aragon Artists, and the couple made sure their guests stayed awake with Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and pastries long into the early morning hours.
