Cruel Summer Season 2 Episode 5 (“All I Want For Christmas”) brings us to Christmas time, both the real Christmas in the December timeline and “Christmas in July” in the two July timelines, which puts us on a collision course with Luke’s disappearance on New Year’s Day.
The authors have made a point of emphasizing the many ways in which the characters demonstrate their friendship for one another throughout the series, and this holiday season is no exception.
Because Isabella isn’t a good friend and she should know that Meghan is incredibly frugal, she gives her an expensive computer as a gift, which makes Meghan feel awkward. To commemorate the event, though, Meghan presents her with a heartfelt photo album and memory book.
In July of 1999, halfway through the season, Isabella’s old buddy Trevor suddenly reappears and helps shed light on her past. Trevor is the older brother of Isabella’s best friend Lisa, and the two don’t seem to be on good terms. He teases her about revealing her new friends about her past, and later it is revealed that he and Isabella dated, with a k*ss and an “I love you” exchanged on the pier.
Megan and Isabella Feel As If They Are Being Enclosed By Walls
As we did last week, we’ll begin with the summer of 2000 before diving into the winter timetable, which is the real meat of the matter right now. Megan breaks into Ned’s in the summer of 2000, exactly a year after the day of the car wash the year before, in order to obtain the security footage of the night everything went down.
Surprisingly, her accomplice in crime is Isabella. However, Sheriff Mayers catches the two in the act, and they are taken in for further interrogation. Steve and Debbie get into an argument about it outside the police station. The irony is amplified by the fact that in the same episode, we witness the same couple in a much more upbeat, joyful setting.
Megan and Isabella, along with their attorneys Tom and Rebecca, are questioned by Mayers once more about the events of New Year’s Eve. Naturally, they’re both dishonest. Megan claims that she and Luke spent some time in the cabin together. Isabella claims she left the party early to return home.

At the gathering, Isabella also made it plain that her friendship with Megan had ended. Since Mayers now has direct evidence that the pair is dishonest, he no longer gives them any credence. He plays his ace in the hole, video footage that Jeff shot at the celebration.
