Amber Lynn Costello, a woman who was 27 years old, lived in West Babylon at 1112 America Ave. When her friends last saw her, she was having a hard time and was addicted to drugs. Costello and her two male roommates were all addicted to heroin for most of their lives.
As a heroin user and s*x worker, she advertised her services on sites like Craigslist and Backpage to pay for her habit and help her roommates. Costello, who was only 4 feet 11 inches tall, went by the names Carolina or Mia and had tattoos like “Kaos” on her neck, a flower on her lower back, and “Margaret” on her leg.
Amber Lynn Costello Obituary
Before she went missing, Costello got several phone calls from a client who wanted to pay $1,500 for an overnight outcall, which was a lot more than the normal rate. She didn’t know who the caller was or that he was using a throwaway burner phone with a fake name. On that terrible night, she left her home in West Babylon around 10:30 p.m. and was never seen alive again.

Unveiling the Long Island Serial Killer
Three months later, Costello’s body was found in a marshy area near Gilgo Beach. It was wrapped in cloth, along with the bodies of three other s*x workers. All of the people who died had been suffocated. The search for the killer went on, and it wasn’t until many years later that someone made a big discovery.

The Arrest And Prime Suspect
In a big change, a man from New York called Rex Heuermann was arrested in connection with the murders at Gilgo Beach, which have not been solved for a long time.
Even though Heuermann was not initially charged with killing Maureen Brainard-Barnes, who is thought to be the first victim, he is now seen as the most likely person to have done it. Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello were killed, and Heuermann, an engineer from Massapequa Park, has been charged with their deaths.
