Jeffrey Carlson Death
The terrible death of a television pioneer has left the acting community in mourning. Alumni of “All My Children” Multiple outlets have reported that Jeffrey Carlson, who pioneered transs*xual roles on daytime television, has passed away. He was 48. The reason for Jeffrey Carlson’s death is still unknown.
Time Out New York theatrical editor Adam Feldman broke the news that the soap star had died. In a tweet dated July 8, he wrote-
“RIP Jeffrey Carlson, 48, exposed-nerve star of Broadway (Billy in The Goat, Marilyn in Taboo) and TV (the groundbreaking trans character Zoe on All My Children).” “A powerful actor and a painful loss.”

Carlson grew up in Long Beach and attended both UC Davis and the Juilliard School in New York City for his formal education. The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? the play in which he made his Broadway debut in 2002, marked the beginning of his acting career.
Carlson made his film debut in the 2003 independent film Happy End while still actively pursuing a career in New York City theater. Before his breakthrough role in All My Children, he guest-starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and in the film Hitch.

He first appeared on the show in 2006 as a rock star named Johnny who transitions to the female character Zoe, but he left after only a year. It was his last acting role and only the second time an actor has played a transgender character on a daytime serial (the first being the ABC drama The City in 1996).
“They hired me as a day player but then they wrote me on the show. My parents were thrilled,” Carlton told Chicago-based LGBTQ+ newspaper Windy City Times in 2013.
“I had a meeting with the producer and they explained that they wanted to do the first coming out story of a transgender from male to female on daytime television. I asked, ‘How are you going to do it?’ She said, ‘With dignity.'”
Following the news of his passing, Eden Riegel, who played Zoe’s friend Bianca on All My Children, tweeted her condolences.

Susan Hart, a fellow performer who studied under Carlson when he taught Shakespearean acting in Chicago, also expressed her sadness at his passing on social media. “Good night my sweet sweet sweet prince among men,” she said on Facebook on July 7.
