Former Barcelona and Inter Milan midfielder Luis Suarez, the only Spanish-born man to win the Ballon d’Or dἰed at the age of 88. Inter, where he spent most of his career has confirmed the news of his deἀth.

The Nerazzurri club wrote, “A unique talent and a great Inter fan. The number 10 of the great Inter who took our colours to the roof of Italy, Europe and the world.”

Luis Suárez’s cause of deἀth is unknown yet. Suárez won the Ballon d’Or in 1960 and came in second place in 1961 and 1964. He was a member of Spain’s team that won the European Championship in 1964, the country’s first major title.

Suárez coached Inter three times after resigning in 1973. From 1988 until 1991, he was also the manager of Spain’s national team. Suárez minimized his Ballon d’Or, a trophy that later Spanish superstars like Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez and Raul Gonzalez failed to win.
