The Somerhalder and Reed family is now complete with four members! The Twilight star announced Thursday, June 29, 2023 that she and Somerhalder had given birth to a child. The young mother of two disclosed:
“A few weeks ago we welcomed our son on what can only be described as one of the most beautiful days of my life, Born at home in water and surrounded by so much love in an instant, my heart doubled in size.”
She continued:
“As all of you know, I have very strong boundaries with social media, especially when it comes to children and what I choose to put out into the world. I wanted to share first so I can say thank you in advance for honoring those boundaries and for sending positivity, kindness and LOVE.”
Reed continued by expressing her gratitude to her midwife and doctors for helping to guide this sweet boy into the world gently.
Even though Nikki did not share the name of her and Ian’s son, she did reveal that he was born at home “surrounded by so much love.” The actress continued by saying that she wanted to announce the birth of their baby on her terms because she has strict rules about social media and her children.

The couple originally shared their wonderful baby news on their individual Instagram profiles in January. The former cast member of “The Vampire Diaries” posted a picture of Reed holding their 5-year-old daughter Bodhi Soleil while cradling her unborn child in a lovely outdoor environment.
He wrote, “All I’ve ever wanted since I was a young boy was to have a big family. Thank you Nik for giving me that gift.”
Referencing the picture, he said:
“When I was taking this photo, I could not believe what I was seeing through that viewfinder. There’s nothing more beautiful. All I ask is that everyone sends positivity to Nik & I during this time. The social space can be a strange one, but we can also make it a great one.”
