Tanjiro: Who Desined the Demon Slayer: Kimestu no Yaina Main Character?

Tanjiro Kamado is a Japanese character and a protagonist of Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga Demon Slayer: Kimestu no Yaina. Tanjiro has a sister named Nezuko who transformed into a demon when Muzan Kibutsuji kἰlled her family. Giyu Tomioka, a demon slayer is recruited as a demon slayer so that he can help her sister to become a human again and rearrange his family.

Tanjiro was collected from a novel in the animation series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. You can get a glimpse of his creation, appearance and which voice actors made him popular. 

Who Created Tanjiro Kamado?

Tanjiro was created by Gotouge after getting some suggestions from his editor. Himura Kenshin from Nouhiro Watuski’s manga Rurouni Kenshin influenced Tanjiro’s characters. For the first time, the character is voiced by Natsuki Hanae in Japanese and Zach Aguilar in English.

For being a good caretaker of everyone and a strong fighter to save his sister, the character has won several awards, two of them also received by Hanae and Aguilar.

Tanjiro originates from Koyoharu Gotuge’s ideas. Though editor Tatsuhiko Katayama also asked Gotouge if they should write a brighter character like Tanjiro because it had a darker side. After releasing the seventh edition of the series, Gotouge creates a Tanjiro wielding his sword with a smile.

In the begging of the character, Tanjiro did not have earrings but later they added them to highlight the character. Inside Tanjiro there are four characters to balance him with different skills.

The editor stated that

“[He] is a type of male main character that you don’t see much. He’s so kind. He has Nezuko, so he’s coming from this position where he can’t just say all demons are evil. He’s in the gray zone.” 

Yuma Takahashi, who produce the film also liked his character in the film. Tanjiro Water Breathing was influenced by Katsushika Hokusai’s ukiyo-e style. 

Actors, Who Gave Voice The Tanjiro Characters?

Natsuki Hanae is the first character who voiced Tanjiro for the first time in Japanese. For this Hanae get posit responses from all over the world. Nezuko’s actress Akari Kito said about Hanae that he is like a big brother to her during the film sh00ting. And help her during the difficult time. Hanae also said that she is like a younger sister to him.

Another English actor Zach Aguilar voiced it for the English dub, which also get positive reviews. During the infant age, Allegra Clark voiced this character.

Tanjiro Appearance 

You can watch Tanjiro for the first time in Demon Slayer: Kimestu no Yaina. After that he was featured in Demon Slayer: Flower of Happiness based on a light novel. Aside movie Tanjiro featured in Demon Slayer: Kimestu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles a video game. 

People like Tanjiro Otaku USA called Tanjiro a “fascinating breath of fresh air.” Anime Inferno said,

“Tanjiro and Nezuko make a great team and are two enjoyable protagonists, with the series at its best when the two siblings are working together.” 

Not Tanjiro, his relationship with Nezuko is also described by IGN as “one of the most endearing parts of Demon Slayer if not arguably its beating heart and soul.” Sage Ashford, who wrote for Comic Book Resources praised Tanjiro by saying that “the most likable male and female leads of the decade”.
