The Foo Fighters are reportedly planning a surprise performance at this weekend’s Glastonbury festival. According to reports, the American rock band led by ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl will be performing at the Pyramid on Friday night (23 June) at approximately 6:10 p.m.
The position is now being held by an unknown act going by the name The Churnups, which was at first thought to be a reference to the band Pulp. It happened a year after Paul McCartney’s headline show at the Pyramid when Dave Grohl made an unexpected appearance.
At the Worthy Farm music festival, the band performs some of their biggest hits for hundreds of thousands of festival-goers, with graphics claimed to have been created by the legendary artist David Hockney. The band will perform “with emotion” in honor of late drummer Taylor Hawkins.
After an unexpected hiatus following Hawkin’s deἀth, the band just resumed touring. In addition, they released a heartfelt CD in his honor titled But Here We Are.
In 2017, 50-year-old Hawkins was discovered deἀd in his opulent hotel room after a ‘cardiovascular collapse’ brought on by a drug binge while the band was touring in Columbia.
In order to keep making songs and playing shows for fans, the band has replaced him with drummer Josh Freese. Fans were already guessing that the mystery act The Churnups may be a major music act, with some thinking that it could be Blur or Pulp.
The SecretGlasto Twitter account has now upped the ante, writing:
“We’ve got another confession to make, you’d certainly be FOOlish to miss The ChurnUps.”

However, Grohl gave away a huge clue when he wrote on Twitter that the band and its fans were “churning up” emotions together.
The message read:
“Hey, it’s been a while. Now that we’ve returned from our first run of shows, I felt compelled to reach out and thank you all for being there for us.
“Every night, when I see you singing, it makes me sing harder,” Grohl writes. “When I see you screaming, it makes me scream louder. When I see your tears, it brings me to tears. And when I see your joy, it brings me joy.”
“But I see you… and it feels good to see you, churning up these emotions together. Because we’ve always done this together. Time and Again. See you soon. Dave.”
