Corey Seager is a shortstop for the Texas Rangers of MLB. He is an American professional baseball player. His professional baseball career began in 2015, after being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first round of the 2012 MLB amateur draft.
He was named MLB Rookie of the Year in 2016 and an MLB All-Star in his first two seasons. After leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 7 of the 2020 World Series, he was honored with the NLCS MVP award and the World Series MVP award. Seager left the Dodgers after seven seasons and signed a 10-year, $325 million contract with the Rangers in free agency.
He hit.309 with 12 home runs and 57 RBIs in 74 games for Great Lakes. He got called up to play for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League’s Advanced Class on August 3. Baseball America also selected him as an All-Star for the Minor Leagues. According to the Dodgers, Seager and Joc Pederson split the team’s “Minor League Player of the Year” honor.
He was recognized to the AFL’s Desert Dogs’ Top Prospects List upon his return to the team at the end of the season.
He entered the 2015 season as Baseball America’s #5 prospect and MLB.com’s #7 overall prospect. The Dodgers have started the 2015 season by sending Seager to the Texas League’s Tulsa Drillers, their new AA affiliate.
