Spoilers for CBS’s The Young and the Restless suggest that the life of Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) newborn child is in jeopardy. Sally was in danger of preeclampsia and had been instructed to slow down, but her condition appears to be worsening.
The episode aired on June 15 suggests something terrible may be happening when Sally is admitted to the hospital due to acute side pain. Sally is in for what might be a very trying ordeal, as her high-risk pregnancy could result in the loss of her unborn child.
It wouldn’t be the first time a soap opted for the tragedy of deἀth rather than the triumph of a new baby. Naturally, we should also note that the scenario concerning Delia Abbott’s (Sophie Pollono) deἀth was written by Y&R Head Writer and Executive Producer Josh Griffith.
Griffith is unconcerned with sacrificing soap babies for dramatic effect since he is justifiably proud of that story. Will Griffith sacrifice Adam and Sally’s unborn child for the sake of his art? Since everything seems so foreboding, it wouldn’t be shocking if Sally and Adam’s daughter didn’t make it.
A miscarriage is the unintentional and early abortion of a viable human embryo. A stillbirth is considered to have occurred after the 20th week of pregnancy.
