Following on from the events of “Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home” the six-episode series will continue Nick Fury’s story. On June 21st, 2023, Disney+ will air the first episode of Secret Invasion.

Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) will return to Earth in Secret Invasion for a new mission that might have far-reaching consequences for the MCU as a whole.

Secret Invasion is the first streaming project in Marvel’s Phase 5 and the title of their upcoming Disney+ series. Little is known about the plot beyond the fact that it will follow Nick Fury’s exploits as he fights a covert invasion of Earth by the shape-shifting alien race known as the Skrulls.
However, it’s possible that the Skrulls have very little to do with Fury’s real motivation for coming back to Earth during the events of the Secret Invasion. In the movie’s post-credits scene, the Skrulls revealed that Peter Parker’s allies in the fight against Mysterio, Nick Fury and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) were actually extraterrestrial imposters.
Phase 4’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” established Fury’s hidden mission which will be developed further during Secret Invasion confirming that he had actually departed Earth long before the events of Far From Home.
The Resurgence of the Avengers: Nick Fury’s Mission Begins
During the events of Secret Invasion “Nick Fury” the man who first proposed the Avengers Initiative may be on a quest to reorganize Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He learns that no one can be trusted, not even his former Skrull partner Talos.
Since the events of Avengers: Endgame, the Avengers have been noticeably absent from MCU events and subsequent statements.
How precisely Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will reunite is still a mystery. However, Nick Fury is the greatest person to reunite with the Avengers because he is the one responsible for doing it in the first place.
Through his collaboration with Talos, Nick Fury has been kept apprised of developments on Earth during his absence including those depicted in Far From Home. After Talos and his teammate reported their mission to Fury, he decided it was time to end his vacation and get back to work.
Fury doesn’t specify why he’s back at work, but Talos’s last words before being disconnected reveal that people all across the world keep asking about the Avengers. Thus, Nick Fury may be acting on Talos’s request when he comes to Earth at the start of the Secret Invasion in an effort to reunite the Avengers.
