On Monday, May 1, 2023, Kevin Costner’s spouse filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage. The handbag designer requested shared custody of their three children—Cayden, Hayes and Grace in her filing.
Costner’s agent did issue the following statement on Facebook:
“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage.”
Costner’s busy work schedule was hard for his wife. He knew his wife Christine was unhappy, thus the divorce was an unpleasant surprise. The reason behind the divorce is citing irreconcilable differences.
The Yellowstone actor claimed the former model is refusing to leave their home despite their long-standing prenuptial agreement which stipulates that she had 30 days to leave their property after filing for divorce on May 1.
Costner also claimed that Baumgartner is using her status as a bargaining chip to get the “Bodyguard” star to comply with her various financial demands.
Baumgartner is said to have received more than $1.2 million from Costner as part of his prenuptial responsibilities, more than enough to find a new place to live.
As part of his child support obligations, Costner stated that he is prepared to “contribute $30K per month for a rental house and is willing to advance another $10K for her moving costs.”
