Galligan is a native of Rathfarnham, a southern Dublin district. Lorraine’s mom is a beauty therapist and the owner of a salon and a beauty academy. Galligan had a strong Catholic upbringing but now identifies as an agnostic.
Galligan is a graduate of Beaufort’s Loreto High School. She attended the Betty Ann Norton Theatre School on a full scholarship thanks to the Ena Burke bursary she received for her time with Ann Kavanagh’s Young People’s Theatre (2005–2011).
She then attended Trinity College Dublin for her undergraduate degree in Drama and Theatre Studies and The Lir Academy for acting training, from which she graduated in 2015.
