Who is Matthew Gray Gubler?
American actor, filmmaker, fashion model, painter, artist, director and author Matthew Gray Gubler was born on March 9, 1980.
Gubler attended the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and graduated from high school because the institution did not offer his first option filmmaking. He received his bachelor’s degree in film directing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Gubler has acted in a number of films, including The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Suburban Gothic, 500 Days of Summer, Life After Beth and Newness. In Alvin and the Chipmunks and its three sequels, he provided Simon’s voice.
Gubler was found by a model scout while studying cinema at NYU and went on to work as a model for Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs and American Eagle, among others with DNA Model Management. On models.com’s list of the top 50 male models, he is rated 46th.
Gubler had an internship with Wes Anderson after he began modeling and he was urged to try for a role in his film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Gubler did and he was cast as Nico.
He appeared as the unsavory Joe Joe in the 2006 film RV. Along with Jason Lee (Dave), Justin Long (Alvin) and Jesse McCartney (Theodore), he voiced Simon the Chipmunk in Alvin and the Chipmunks, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.
In How to Be a Serial Killer he played the primary character (Bart) and in 500 Days of Summer, he played Paul. Gubler appeared in the zombie comedy Life After Beth and the film Suburban Gothic in 2014, for which he won the Screamfest Award for Best Actor.

Matthew Gray Gubler’s Cinematic Journey
Gubler created a documentary named Matthew Gray Gubler’s Life Aquatic Intern Journal while working on The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, which was eventually included in The Criterion Collection DVD release.
He directed and acted in Matthew Gray Gubler: The Unauthorized Documentary, a series of self-deprecating mockumentaries that parodied Hollywood behavior and were sh0t on the set of Crἰminal Minds.
Matthew Gray Gubler: The Authorized Documentary, a sequel was also produced albeit only one episode is now online. Gubler directed the Crἰminal Minds Season 5 episode “Mosley Lane” and “Lauren” which aired a year later, on March 16, 2011.
The episode “Lauren” saw the departure of Crἰminal Minds series regular Paget Brewster who had a friendship with Gubler outside of the show. Brewster expressly requested that Gubler direct her final episode, though it was later reported that she would return for Season 7.
Gubler later directed the Crἰminal Minds episodes “Heathridge Manor”, “The Lesson”, “Alchemy”, “Gatekeeper”, “Blood Relations” “Mr. Scratch” and “A Beautiful Disaster”.
