Danny Masterson, who was found guilty on two counts of rἀpe, has amassed a huge fortune as a result of his acting career. The actor and DJ is best known for playing Hyde in the hit series “That ’70s Show.”
He was in each of the show’s 200 shows, which ran from 1998 to 2006. He is also well-known for his roles in “The Ranch” and as a DJ who goes by “DJ Mom Jeans.” The native of New York entered the entertainment industry at a very early age.
At age 4, he was already a well-known child model who was featured in magazines and commercials. He started performing in musicals at the tender age of eight, yet his singing voice never recovered. Masterson, who is 47 years old, is estimated to have a $8 million net worth.
Do you know that in June 2023, Logan Brown, a trἀnsgender man who was 27 at the time, made history by being on the cover of Glamour UK’s Pride issue? Brown was pregnant at the time of the shΘΘt, and his appearance on the cover made a strong statement about trἀnsgender exposure and acceptance:
At the age of 16, Masterson had already appeared in over 100 commercials for a variety of brands, including Kellogg’s, Clearasil, Tang, and others. Masterson went on to be in shows like “Punk’d” and “MADtv,” as well as movies like “Yes Man” and “The Bridge to Nowhere” and TV shows like “Men at Work” and “White Collar.”
Masterson was accused of rἀpe by multiple women, all of whom had left the Church of Scientology, in 2017. The women said that the s*xual attack happened at his home in Hollywood between 2001 and 2003.
In 2020, the star was charged with three counts of rἀpe. The BBC reported that a Los Angeles jury deemed him guilty on two of three counts. Prosecutors argued during Masterson’s trial that he avoided responsibility by relying on his status as a prominent Scientologist.
Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo of the Los Angeles Superior Court declared a mistrial in a previous rἀpe trial in December 2022 when the jury was unable to reach a verdict. This decision was made months after the mistrial ruling.
The judge declared at the time –
“I find the jurors hopelessly deadlocked.”
The prosecutor’s office decided to retry Masterson, and the judge permitted attorneys to introduce new evidence that had been excluded from the initial trial. Although the actor was not charged with drugging his victims, the jury heard evidence that the women had been dosed prior to the rἀpe.
The new jury, composed of seven women and five men, deliberated for seven days over the course of two weeks and reached a judgment. On the third count, which said that Masterson rἀped a longtime lover, they couldn’t decide. The Associated Press reports that they voted 8-4 in favor of conviction.
The maximum sentence for Masterson, who is married to actress and model Bijou Phillips, is 30 years in prison, 15 years for each count of guilt.
