Kensington Palace confirmed today that Princess Kate and Prince William are expecting their third child together. The royals already have two children, Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two.
A statement from Kensington Palace said –
“Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child. The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
During her first two pregnancies, Kate, 35, suffered from intense morning sickness, also known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum. She also suffers from the disease during her pregnancy. As a result, she canceled an appearance scheduled for Monday morning.
The statement said –
“As with her previous two pregnancies, The Duchess suffers from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Her Royal Highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London today. The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace.”
Kate is believed to be less than three months pregnant, and the palace announced due to her illness. Kate was previously cared for at home in Apartment 1A of the court while pregnant with Princess Charlotte. The birth will drop Prince Harry, who is in Manchester today, to sixth in line to the throne.
During a press conference on 6 March Monday, Harry described the news as fantastic, incredible. I’m overjoyed for them. When asked about Kate, he said, “I haven’t seen her in a while, but I think she’s okay.”

The announcement comes during a watershed moment for the family. On 9 March Thursday, she and Prince William will take Prince George to his first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea.
The newest royal will be joining a slew of gorgeous siblings. Since their births, George and Charlotte have been enchanting people worldwide, notably on the family’s fall 2016 trip to Canada and on Christmas Day in Kate’s hometown of Bucklebury.
During a playtime on the royal brother and sister’s Canadian tour this past September, George discovered the joy of bubbles, and Charlotte said her first words in public.
The birth of Will and Kate’s third child could be historic: if the baby is a male, he will not replace older sister Charlotte in the line of succession, owing to legislation passed shortly after Will and Kate’s 2011 wedding.
