Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated as the best actor for The Power of the Dog, at the 94th Academy Awards again on silver screen. Again he reprise Stephen Strange character Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, he played in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Doctor Strange to life.
Today we are going to discuss his personal life including his wife Sophie Hunter, theater director. They came into the limelight after being captured together during Benedict’s Saturday Night Live show. She is present there to support him in his upcoming role. Both tied the knot seven years before.
Now they are parents of three children, Christopher, Hal, and Finn. Before debuting as a director, she was an actress. In 2009 the couple meet for the first time when they were cast in Burlesque Fairytales. But both started dating each other after 2013.
Both were for the first time openly in 2014, at the U.S. Open, in the same year later Benedict proposed to her. Benedict traveled to Edinburg to purpose her love for marriage and her mother accepted it at the time.

“Mr. BT. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London.”
Benedict said on People, “It’s what I would have done if I wasn’t sort of famous. It’s what we do. It’s a kind of traditional thing to do”.
“I don’t tweet or do social media. It’s too impersonal. I would rather do what we did, and have people find it, and not see us from some … grainy footage staring lovingly into each others’ eyes with a ring on someone’s finger. I wanted it to be ours.”
In 2015 both celebrated Valentine’s Day on the Isle of Wight in England. Before marriage, Sophia was pregnant with her first baby. Christopher was born in 2015, and then in 2017, they become parents for the second time when Hal was born. Finn, their third son was born in 2019.

“Having a baby it’s massive and on a very unexpected level, suddenly I understood my parents much more profoundly than I ever had before,” Benedict told in 2016.
“I was expecting with Hamlet that it might be a hindrance to be a father because it’s all about being a son. But it’s the opposite. You understand much more about being a son, becoming a father.”

Benedict said, “I loved [lockdown]. I was with my wife and children and my mum and dad had come over to have a three-week experience with us and see their boy riding a horse and steering some cattle.”
