Just before midnight on Friday, Taylor Swift pleasantly surprised fans at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as she began a three-night run of her Eras tour by introducing rapper Ice Spice to the stage. For the first time, the two women jointly performed their new collaboration rendition of “Karma” live.
Swift and Ice Spice danced together while performing the brand-new song. At the song’s end, the Midnight’s vocalist shouted, “Thank you, New Jersey, give it up for Ice Spice!” Confetti began to fall around them as they hugged.
When Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition) was re-released on Friday, the duo included their collaborative track as one of three bonus tracks. In the remix, the rapper from “Munch” waxes euphoric about all kinds of karma in place of one of Swift’s lyrics from the original: She raps, “Karma is your text ’bout to bounce. Karma is the fire in your house/And she ’bout to pop up unannounced.”
Ice Spice, a rapper who is 23 years old, contacted Swift’s management and said that she had been a fan of Swift since she was a young child and would want to collaborate with Swift if it were feasible, according to an audio recording posted on Spotify. It turned out that the sentiment was shared. Swift has been preparing for dates of the Eras tour while listening to Ice Spice. Even the rapper’s song “In Ha Mood” is on the playlist concertgoers are exposed to before she takes the stage.
Swift admitted, “I was just listening to Ice Spice continuously. Getting to know her has been so special because I am blown away by her. In my opinion, she’s the one to watch. Watching her work ethic and how thoughtfully she approaches her career, she’s like my new favorite artist and I’m so honored that she’s on the song.”
Ice Spice announced the partnership in an Instagram photo that she captioned, “thxx [Taylor] for being the coolest person on earth ilu.”

Her collaboration with Lana Del Rey, “Snow on the Beach,” also appears on Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition), along with the tracks “Hits Different” and a revised version that emphasizes Del Rey’s vocals more.
Swift tweeted why they recut the song: “You asked for it, we listened: Lana and I went back into the studio specifically to record more Lana on Snow on the Beach.”
Um. SO much to tell you. I’m a massive fan of this brilliant artist and after getting to know her I can confirm: she is THE ONE to watch.
