What Happened in the Semi-Finale Episode of The Voice Season 23?

For the first time this season, the four coaches of “The Voice” Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan ceded control to the audience on Monday, May 15 night.

America had the ability to choose their favorite performers to advance to the grand finale after each of the Top 8 musicians performed live on the main stage in the semifinals.

Only the Top 5 artists made the cut and moved on to the next round; Carson Daly, the show’s host announced them at the conclusion of the evening. These are the top 5 on The Voice Season 23:

As the teams of Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper fight on “The Voice’s” season 23 Live Semi-final Top 8, America may finally cast their votes.

Tonight’s semi-final Top 8 performances for a chance to advance to the finale in front of judges mark the official start of The Voice. It will be fascinating to see how some of the singers chose their own songs, while others let their coach choose the song they sang.

Niall played his brand-new song, “Meltdown,” as the ballots were being counted. Then Chance performed “Same Drugs” on stage alongside Manasseh Samone, Jamar Langely and Kala Banham three former teammates.

Five candidates will advance to next week’s finals once host Carson Daly announces the results of the voting at the conclusion. The Voice Season 23 finale will be broadcast on Tuesday, May 23, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and will be streamed the next day on Peacock.
