A dispute between two subway riders that was captured on camera has been determined to have been caused by a ch0kehold, according to the New York City medical examiner.
According to authorities, Jordan Neely dἰed as a result of “compression of the n*ck [ch0kehold]” and was a victim of h0micide. Mr. Neely is seen struggling in the incident video as another man grabs him and keeps him down.
The US Marine, 24, who had been holding the passenger captive, was questioned by police before being let go.
H0micide is defined as a deἀth brought on by another person, however, it is not always a muɼder. Police and prosecutors will now decide whether or not to file charges.
Following the decision, a spokesman for Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg said, “As part of our thorough ongoing investigation, we will review the Medical Examiner’s report, evaluate all available video and photo footage, identify and interview as many witnesses as possible, and obtain additional medical records.
Senior, knowledgeable prosecutors are handling this case, and we’ll provide you an update as soon as there’s new material to share with the public, he continued.
On the F-line train in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood, the incident occurred on Monday in the late afternoon. On the railway platform close to the scene of Mr. Neely’s deἀth, a demonstration was held on Wednesday in his honor.
The audience shouted, “Justice for Jordan Neely. Shut it down if we don’t get it.” Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, pleaded with the public to exercise patience while the inquiry was ongoing.

At around 14:27 local time (19:27 BST), police arrived on the scene and discovered the man to be lifeless. Later, after being transferred to the hospital, he was declared deἀd.
The d*ceased man was shouting on the train before he was held, according to Juan Alberto Vazquez, the independent journalist who recorded the incident for the New York Times.
The man said, “‘I don’t have food, I don’t have a drink, I’m tired,'” according to Mr. Vazquez. “I don’t mind getting life in prison or going to pris0n. I’m ready to pἀss away.

He continued that although the passenger was terrifying, nobody had been harmed. Mr. Vasquez claimed he did not think the man would pἀss away at the time of the occurrence.
“He was moving and defending himself.” The film, according to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, “causes a lot of fear for people” and is “deeply disturbing.”
She stated that the state would collaborate with the city to ascertain whether homelessness and lack of access to mental health care “were a factor here”.
