A former U.S. Coast Guard member is suspected of kἰlling one woman and injuring four others in Midtown Atlanta. Deion Patterson is wanted by Georgia law enforcement for reportedly opening fire in the waiting area of an Atlanta medical facility, kἰlling one person and injuring four more.
The incident, according to the Atlanta Police Department, took place inside a medical facility on West Peachtree Street between 12th and 13th streets soon after noon on Wednesday 3 May. Police were notified of an active sh00ter who had injured several persons; it was later discovered that one person had dἰed and four others had been hurt.
The incident claimed the life of a lady, 39; the other four victims, who were women between the ages of 25 and 71, were taken to Grady Hospital.
Police identified the alleged gunman as 24-year-old Atlanta-area resident Patterson and later released his mugsh0t. According to the office of public affairs for the military branch, Patterson enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in July 2018 and eventually advanced to the rank of Second Class Electrician’s Mate.
Patterson was released from active duty in January 2023, though the Coast Guard did not specify whether he was released on good or bad terms. The Coast Guard declared on Wednesday that it was aware of the Atlanta incident in which Patterson is thought to have been engaged.
