Eileen K. Deighan, who had spent her whole life in Yonkers, pἀssed away on May 2, 2023. She was 25 years old at the time of deἀth. She was reared by her parents, Bill and Eileen, who cherished her as their own. Her Sister dἰed earlier this year.
She is the beloved granddaughter of Susan and Robert Deighan and Bridie and Jimmy McGrath, both of whom have since pἀssed away. She said about her family:
“Moreover, Susan and Robert Deighan’s grandchild, I’m the adored niece of Bob Deighan, Jim Deighan, Margie (Danny) Rohan, Bridget (Tom) DeMercurio and Danny Rohan. My entire extended family is named Deighan.”
She was intubated in the ICU and in a bad condition. On May 3, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., Maria Regina High School will host a memorial service for Eileen Deighan. Future disclosures from the family regarding fμneral services are possible.
Eileen’s friends and relatives are already remembering her, honoring her and expressing their condolences. In 2020, she graduated from Concordia College with a BS in Health Psychology. When she obtained her nursing degree from the Montefiore School of Nursing in 2022, she was the salutatorian of graduating class.
She had a variety of skills including teamwork, communication and time management. She did have clinical experience, though, thanks to the numerous hours she spent in nursing school providing direct patient care in a clinical setting.
Her current duties included evaluating patients, speaking with patients and their families, directly informing medical staff of any sudden changes in a patient’s condition, handling medications, keeping thorough records of all patient data and providing direct care to ensure better patient outcomes.
Cancer survivor Eileen went on to become a champion Irish dancer and a pediatric registered nurse at Montefiore Hospital after overcoming her own battle with the illness. Before her deἀth, she submitted her application to join the Gaelic Football Team.
Even after she is gone, her infectious grin and laugh will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of her loved ones and the people she was closest to.
A Christian Burial Mass will be held for the deἀd on Saturday, May 6 at 9:15 am at the Annunciation Church in Crestwood. The following week, the fμneral and bμrial will be held in Yonkers’ St. Mary’s Cemetery.
