Alan Rickman aka Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman was a popular English actor and director. He achieved membership in the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) with his performance in modern and classic theatres. He joined the cinema in 1988 with his first film Die Hard. He entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Unfortunately, he demines in 2016 because of pancreatic cancer. All his movies are listed here.
1. Die Hard
After get popularity in their theatre career he debuted in film with his first film Die Hard with the team director John McTiernan, writer Jeb Stuart and the cast of Bruce Willis, Bonnie Bedelia, and William Atherton. In this movie, Wills was a NYC police officer who wanted to save his wife, who was kidnapped by the West German terrorists. Rickman played the leader of the terrorists.
2. Harry Potter and The Sorcerors’ Stone (2001)
Directed by Chris Columbus, and written by Steve Kloves, it was his first Harry Potter film. With the cast of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, Rickman’s role was Severus Snape, who is a teacher at the Hogwarts Academy and Harry doesn’t like him.
3. Truly Madly Deeply (1990)
Along with Juliet Stevenson, Rickman’s this film expose the true story of who a woman survives when she loses her husband. But she meets her husband when he becomes a ghost. For this film, Rickman gets BAFTA nominations as best actor.
4. Love Actually (2003)
“Love Actually” is a romantic film directed and written by Richard Curtis with the cast of Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, and Liam Neeson. Rickman played a bad role in this as a husband and father of two children. But he falls in love with another girl he works with. The wife releases all this when she comes to know that her husband buys jewelry for someone other on the occasion of Christmas.
5. Sense and Sensibility (1995)
Rickman gets another nomination for BAFTA for his Sense and Sensibility film directed by Ang Lee. Emma Thompson scripted it and the cast was Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, and Hugh Grant. Emma won an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. This is an emotional story of three sisters and their mother and how they spent life after their father’s death.

6. Michael Collins (1996)
Neil Jordon’s films including stars Liam Neeson, Aidan Quinn, and Julia Roberts nominated for Best Supporting Actor nomination in BAFTA. Michael Collins is historic series censored on Irish Revolution and discovers a gorilla war to defeat the UK. Rickman played Irish politician Éamon de Valera.
7. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
This film was commercially successful but critics do not like it. Directed by Kevin Reynolds and written by Pen Densham, and John Watson with the cast of Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, and Christian Slater. Before this Kevin Costner won Oscar for his film “Dances with Wolves.”
8. Sweeney Todd (2007)
“Attend the Tale of Sweeney Todd” is focused on Stephen Sondheim’s music which is a turning point for Broadway in 1979. Tim Burton directed it including the cast of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen. Rickman played an evil Judge character.
9. Eye in The Sky (2015)
Gavin Hood this film does not attract the audience it deserve but critically it was a success. Starred with Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul, and Michael O’Keefe, this film was released after Rickman’s death. It was focused on the British military operation in Kenya to find out terrorists.
10. The Butler (2013)
He Butler was a documentary film based on an African American man who was presented as a butler in the white house to eight different presidents of the US including Dwight D. written by Danny Strong and directed by Lee Daniels, Rickman played the character of Ronald Reagan.
