Kim was born in Yangpyeong, South Korea, on September 2, 1972. She received her B.A. in art from Kyonggi University after attending Myungil Girls’ High School.

Kim founded the art-exhibition-focused company Covana Contents in 2009, and he has held the position of CEO and president ever since. The media claimed in 2019 that she had not paid her taxes. Kim is being looked into for possible bribery related to sponsoring art shows.
